2012 Syrah Massa Ranch Yountville Napa Valley

Grown in Napa’s cool Yountville AVA, this Syrah shows much the same character as those from the Northern Rhone Valley, with its deep color and aromas of smoke and bacon to complement the brilliant blue fruit.
We harvested the grapes on October 21, 2012, at 26.2° Brix, pH 3.89 and 5.8 g/L titratable acidity. 50% of the stems were returned to the fermentor to add texture, enhance mouthfeel and bring out the savory character of the wine. The wine matured in 6 neutral French oak barrels. We bottled 148 cases on January 22, 2014. The finished wine has 14.2% alcohol, 5.7 g/L titratable acidity and a pH of 3.90.

Tasting Notes

100% Syrah from the CCOF-Organic Massa Ranch in Yountville (Napa Valley). We adore this vineyard. Vineyard manager Patrick Ridder is a great farmer, a joy to work with and a great supporter of the Revolution. This is a rich and bold wine, distinctively Syrah with its signature blueberry, bacon fat and pepper notes.
